Huge savings on plastic use offer a taste of things to come

Our ongoing efforts to reduce the use of plastic in our packaging mean that here at Vitaflo, we are always on the lookout for inspiration and similar initiatives elsewhere.

In October, food company Schwartz announced sweeping changes to the way it packages its products, moving its entire range of recipe mixes to recyclable packaging in the UK. This will reduce plastic usage by almost two thirds. The new material used for their sachets is 100% recyclable.

The details show just how much of an impact this change will have. The new packaging:

  • Uses 61% less plastic than the previous sachets
  • Saves 29 tonnes of packaging weight annually
  • Avoids 78 tonnes of plastic going to landfill

But why are we talking about Schwartz?

Simply because these are huge, positive steps in the right direction and show what can be achieved when a company commits to plastic reduction.

At Vitaflo, we are also striving to reduce the amount of plastic used in packaging our own products.

We are continually seeking new and innovative ways to achieve our goal of 95% reusable or recyclable packaging by 2025.
